Born in the People's Republic of China, King Wu left the country during the Cultural Revolution in 1971 by fleeing (actually swimming) to Hong Kong. After living there for 6 years, he immigrated to the United States and spent a few months each in San Francisco and New York before settling in Bothell, Washington with his wife and 2 children in a small community just north of Seattle.

An avid photographer since 1980, King left his job as a printed circuit board designer in September 1988 to pursue full time in photography, King currently uses a medium format Fujica GL690 and a Linhof Technica 4x5 large format camera. His film choices are Fujicolor Superior CN120 and Kodak T-Max B/W for both cameras. And as his own "Quality Control Department", he prints, matts and frames all his work. ( Update: as of June 3rd 2007, he traded the Linhof 4x5 large film format to a Canon 5D digital SLR camera. )

While he regularly photographs in and around Washington State and other Western U.S. locations, King remains highly interested in his homeland, having visited China 22 times since 1981. He plans to return there on a somewhat regular basis to photograph yet more of its exotic beauty.

King has participated in and won numerous awards at both local and international competitions, including a gold medal presented by the Photographic Society of America. His work reflects a tremendous amount of traveling and planning, and is a mixture of spontaneity and "waiting for those right moments"... moments which King hopes you will enjoy and share with him for many years to come.

From the photographer ...

My Philosophy About Life...

person must have passion in their life. Be it their job, a sport/hobby or a person.
Whatever it is, you need to strive for it, work at it, lust after it. You need
to have something that drives you, gives you a reason
to wake up in the morning, a reason to keep going ...
What is life without passion?

Achievement - A life long journey from nothing to something.
